Meet Skippy! (Nashville Pet Photography) September 8, 2010

Filed under: Pet portraits — mandywhitleyphotography @ 10:13 am

Skippy is another of the wonderful pups up for adoption through Noah’s Ark Society and is actually the current house mate of Neo, who you met a week ago (who is still in need of a home as well).  Skippy is an awesome dog, full of energy and ready to play, but quiet & calm when it’s time for that as well.  He is medium-sized and is 10 months old.  He’s actually been with his foster mom since he was a very small puppy, so he is very used to being with people (as the picture below will tell you).  If you or someone you know is interested in meeting this adorable face please contact me or his foster mom Mawgie at 505-795-3996  or at My Sister’s Closet  during normal business hours at 615-279-0802.

Now for the pictures….I really love this one, I think it truly tells you all you need to know!  And get a load of those ears!

Neo needs a home! (Nashville Pet Photography) August 27, 2010

I have a little different blog post for you this Friday afternoon.  As many of you know, I’m a big animal lover.  In fact, we’ve got four living with us here at the Whitley household!  Today, I wanted to introduce you to Neo and tell you a little about the organization called Estrella.  Estrella is a celebrity consignment store founded by Lori Elam whose sole purpose will be to provide funds for animal rescue.  Lori is the owner of  My Sister’s Closet in Green Hills and along with her co-worker, Mawgie Alley they have already been taking in animals and adopting them out to forever homes.

Neo is the first pup I’d like to introduce you too.  He is a full-blooded German Shepard who is 11 years old.   He was taken in by Lori & Mawgie from a local animal shelter, his owner was very elderly and hadn’t taken him to the vet in a while, so it took several months for Neo to get into the fantastic shape he’s in now.   He is a very sweet, good-natured dog and is great with kids and other pets.  Please contact me or Mawgie if you think he would be a good fit for your family!  You can also contact Mawgie at 505-795-3996  or the store during normal business hours at 615-279-0802 if you have any questions about Neo or would like to meet him.

Thanks!

Mandy

So, for this gloomy, rainy day what could be better than a couple of super cute little Pomeranians!

I met Maggie & Shieka on a trip to Albuquerque and was smitten.  Their doggie parents Rocco & Tara were happy to provide me with their story of these pups!  They rescued them in June 2008 from Cleavland, Ohio, after searching for two Pomeranians that were sisters for months on the internet. Tara told me as  soon as she found them she told Rocco they were the ones! They drove four hours one way to go and pick them up from their foster home. The pups really love each other and share everything, from food and water to bones and beds! They love car rides and going to the pet store where they get to ride in the cart to pick out their doggie treats.   I think they picked the right owners!

Enjoy,

Mandy

A year is in the books! March 2, 2010

Filed under: Pet portraits — mandywhitleyphotography @ 10:12 pm

Today marks the year anniversary of photography becoming my full-time career!  Granted, I’ve been shooting for several years more than that, but a year ago today is when I took the big plunge away from the safe and into the unknown.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for all their support and encouragement through this year- you are all amazing!  My hubby, friends, family and of course my wonderful clients!!  I just want to express my heartful gratitude for being able to make a career out of something I love to do.   Also, to all the photographers I’ve worked with and those who have offered support and encouragement-it’s wonderful to know you all and be a part of this great community!

I also wanted to take a moment to tell those of you who may be reading this that if you are not doing something you love you should start immediately.  I had an entirely different career before making this switch.  One in which I spend a lot of time and resources into educating myself, but turns out, that career was not making me happy.  You can and should be doing what you love.  I know I’ve never looked back!   Life is too short to spend your days in a career or a place that doesn’t make you happy.

And, because all posts are so much better with pictures, please allow me to introduce you to the fabulous Ella!

Enjoy, and thank you!

Mandy

Allen’s 6 month photos! November 17, 2009

It is so great to get to watch these little guys grow, especially when I get to start working with them as newborns.   This is the case with little Allen, I can’t believe he’s already 6 months old-he even has two teeth now!   Robin, Larry, Allen and their pup (Bursley) came in today for both Allen’s 6 month update and some family photos for their Christmas card.  I could not believe how great both the baby and the dog did!  This session was so much fun and we got some excellent shots of everyone.  Pet photography is a favorite of mine, so I wanted to include a shot of her on the blog as well!

Enjoy the preview!

Cory’s headshots! October 30, 2009

Cory is a very good friend of mine and I was so excited to be able to do these shots for him.  He is starting his own business where he will be doing musical transcription, meaning if the music doesn’t exist in a written state, he will listen to it and get it down for you.  Definitely an impressive skill!  We did some headshots, some music related shots, and even a few shots of my helper (their cat) Holiday.  She really wanted in my camera bag!

Enjoy the preview Cory!
